LOCATION - Lat 40°09'25", long 95°56'40" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NW 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.10, T.2 N., R.13 E., Richardson County, NE, Hydrologic Unit 10240008, on right bank, just downstream of State Highway 105 bridge, at south edge of Humboldt, 800 ft downstream from Long Branch Creek, and at mile 16.6.
DRAINAGE AREA - 548 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1952 to September 1996 and April 2014 to current year (continuous-record gaging station); September 1997 to September 2008 (gage heights only); October 2008 to March 2014 (gage heights and annual maximum discharge only). Prior to October 1967, published as North Fork Nemaha River at Humboldt.
REVISED RECORDS - WSP 2119: Drainage area.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry. Datum of gage is 941.44 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Prior to Apr. 5, 1968, nonrecording gage at present site and at datum 3.00 ft higher. Apr. 6, 1968 to Oct. 7, 1997, water-stage recorder at present site and at datum 3.00 ft higher.
REMARKS - Accuracy of records for water years prior to 1996 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records fair except for estimated daily discharges, which are poor, unless otherwise noted.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 59,500 ft³/s, August 13, 1982, gage height, 31.25 ft, from floodmark, datum then in use (34.25 ft at present datum); maximum gage height, 31.70 ft, July 10, 1958, datum then in use (34.70 ft at present datum).
