LOCATION - Lat 40°35'48", long 96°57'38" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SW 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.03, T.7 N., R.4 E., Saline County, NE, Hydrologic Unit 10270202, on right bank near downstream side of county road bridge, 3.3 mi downstream from Walnut Creek, 3.6 mi upstream from Squaw Creek, 1.3 mi south of Crete, and at mile 167.
DRAINAGE AREA - 2,710 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR NE-94-1: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - March 1945 to current year. Prior to Oct 1, 1953, discharge published only for stages above 12.0 ft due to variable backwater from dam downstream until 1952 and diurnal fluctuation from power plant upstream in 1952-53.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry. Datum of gage is 1,311.70 ft above sea level. Prior to Jan. 20, 1954, non-recording gage and Jan. 21, 1954 to Mar. 27, 1986, recording gage on right bank at downstream side of county road bridge at present datum. Mar. 28, 1986 to May 11, 1988, at temporary location on right bank 250 ft downstream from bridge at present datum.
REMARKS - Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records fair to good except for estimated daily discharges, which are poor, unless otherwise noted.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum peak flow, 27,600 ft³/s, July 10, 1950, gage height, 28.74 ft. Maximum peak stage, 30.64 ft, March 15, 2019.
