LOCATION - Lat 39°01'32", long 94°20'37" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 NE 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.33, T.49 N., R.31 W., Jackson County, MO, Hydrologic Unit 10300101, on left downstream side of bridge on east bound lane of U.S. Highway 40, 2.6 miles west of Blue Springs, and 1.5 miles upstream from confluence with Little Blue River.
DRAINAGE AREA - 34.4 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Oct 1974 to Sep 30, 1999, Jun 6, 2007 to Sep 30 2007 and Nov 20, 2009 to current year. Stage only Mar 27, 2002 to Nov 27, 2006.
GAGE - Water stage recorder. Datum of the gage is 751.71 ft. above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Prior to March 2002, at same site but at datum 1.66 ft higher.
REMARKS - Accuracy of records is discussed in the annual Station Analysis archived at the USGS MO Water Science Center.  
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD PRIOR TO REGULATION - Maximum discharge 11,000 ft³/s, Aug 13, 1982, gage height, 22.14 ft; no flow most years.

SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: For Water Year 2019, records are rated excellent except for the following periods: Nov. 7-8, Apr 2, 4, 7, rated good; Jun 11-18, Sep 15-24, rated fair.

WATER TEMPERATURE: For Water Year 2019, all records are rated excellent.

TURBIDITY: For Water Year 2019, all records are rated excellent.

As of June 5, 2015, turbidity data collected using YSI EXO2 sensors (previously collected using YSI 6136 6-series sensors). Note that extreme values recorded using YSI EXO2 sensors may exceed those previously recorded using YSI 6136 sensors. Manufacturer specifications of range and accuracy for both sensor models are as follows: YSI 6136: 0 to 1000 FNU, ±2% of the reading or 0.3 NTU (whichever is greater). YSI EXO2: 0 to 999 FNU: 0.3 FNU or ±2% of reading (whichever is greater); 1000 to 4000 FNU: ±5% of reading.
