LOCATION - Lat 38°39'23", long 94°53'46" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 NW 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.17, T.16 S., R.23 E., Miami County, KS, Hydrologic Unit 10290102, on left bank 1,300 ft below outlet works of Hillsdale Lake Dam and at mile 17.6.
DRAINAGE AREA - 143 mi².

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - July 1958 to current year. Records for 1949 to 1953 published in WSP 1146, 1176, 1210, 1240, and 1280 have been found to be unreliable and should not be used.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 857.70 ft above NGVD of 1929. Prior to July 29, 1958, water-stage recorder and nonrecording gage operated 1,850 ft downstream at datum 6.00 ft lower. All records from this site were later discredited. Prior to Aug. 6, 2008, water-stage recorder at site 1.4 mi downstream at datum 3.21 higher.
REMARKS - Flow completely regulated since 1981 by Hillsdale Lake (station 06914995), 2.0 mi upstream. Satellite telemeter at station.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum stage known since 1910, 21.2 ft, July 11, 1951, at site and datum then in use, discharge, 45,200 ft³/s, on basis of slope-area measurement of peak flow.

REMARKS - Records good. Interruptions in record are due to ice conditions, malfunction of the recording instrument or sensors, or during days of no streamflow. Instruments used to measure turbidity conform to ISO 7027 standards and were made using Yellow Springs Instrument (YSI) 6136 sensor.
