LOCATION - Lat 37°54'10.8", long 93°19'01.4" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NE 1/4 sec.2, T.36 N., R.22 W., Hickory County, MO, Hydrologic Unit 10290107, in intake tower at dam on Pomme de Terre River, 3.0 mi southwest of Hermitage.
DRAINAGE AREA - 611 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Jun 1960 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Nonrecording gage prior to Nov 9, 1961. Datum of gage is 0.59 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers).
REMARKS - Accuracy of records is discussed in the annual Station Analysis archived at the USGS MO Water Science Center.   Lake is formed by a earthfill embankment with a concrete gravity section-type dam. Closure operation began on Jun 28, 1960; conservation pool level reached Jun 15, 1963. Capacity at top of flood control pool, 648,700 acre-ft at elevation 874.0 ft, crest of spillway, of which 407,200 acre-ft between elevations 839.0 ft and 874.0 ft is used for flood control, and 228,700 acre-ft between elevation 783.0 ft and 839.0 ft is used for conservation and 12,840 acre-ft below elevation 783.0 ft is sediment storage. Lake is used for flood control and recreational purposes.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum contents, 506,000 acre-ft, Sep 27, 1993, elevation, 864.58 ft; minimum contents, since initial filling to conservation pool level, 200,000 acre-ft, Oct 31, Nov 1, 2010, elevation, 833.88 ft.
