LOCATION - Lat 38°15'23.8", long 93°23'42.8" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NW 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.7, T.40 N., R.22 W., Benton County, MO, Hydrologic Unit 10290109, in control room near middle of dam on Osage River, 1.5 mi northwest of Warsaw, and at mile 175.
DRAINAGE AREA - 11,500 mi². with 7,856 mi² uncontrolled area below other reservoirs.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Oct 1981 to current year. Records collected at same site since 1977 available from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 0.45 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers).
REMARKS - Accuracy of records is discussed in the annual Station Analysis archived at the USGS MO Water Science Center.   Lake is formed by a rolled earthfill type dam. Storage began on Jul 21, 1977. Spillway is equipped with 4 tainter gates 40 ft wide by 47.3 ft high. Capacity of surcharge pool 2,911,000 acre-ft (elevation 739.6 ft to 751.1 ft); of flood control pool 4,006,000 acre-ft (elevation 706.0 ft to 739.6 ft); and of multipurpose pool 1,203,000 acre-ft (elevation 635.0 ft to 706.0). Lake is used for flood control, power, recreation, and fish and wildlife enhancement.
