LOCATION - Lat 37°08'00.2", long 90°46'30.7" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NE 1/4 SW 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.06, T.28 N., R.3 E., Wayne County, MO, Hydrologic Unit 11010007, in intake tower at dam on Black River, 2.3 mi upstream from Brewer Bay, 4.5 mi west of Piedmont, and at mile 257.4.
DRAINAGE AREA - 898 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - Revisions: Elevations for July 7, 2017, to May 29, 2018, were revised on Aug. 2, 2018, based on changes to the datum.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Jun 1948 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 0.50 ft below North American Vertical Datum of 1988. (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers). Water surface elevation minus 0.50 ft equals NAVD88 elevation.
REMARKS - Accuracy of records is discussed in the annual Station Analysis archived at the USGS MO Water Science Center.   Lake is formed by earthfill type dam. Storage began Jun 3, 1948; conservation pool level reached Jul 4, 1948. Capacity at crest of spillway 413,700 acre-ft at elevation 567.0 ft, of which 391,800 acre-ft is available for flood-control storage, and 21,920 acre-ft is permanent storage which under normal operating conditions will be maintained for purposes of conservation and recreation at elevation 494.0 ft. Lake is used for flood control and recreational purposes.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum contents, 449,000 acre-ft, May 06, 2017, elevation, 570.33 ft; minimum, since initial filling to conservation pool level, 15,800 acre-ft, Jan 20, 23, 1972, elevation, 490.00 ft.
