LOCATION - Lat 38°38'33.54", long 104°44'54.18" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SE 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.23, T.16 S., R.66 W., El Paso County, CO, Hydrologic Unit 11020003, on Fort Carson Military Reservation, on right bank 50 ft upstream of Military Road No. 1 bridge, 0.7 mi upstream from mouth of Rock Creek, 3.8 mi southwest of Fountain, and 5.1 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 26.8 mi².
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 1978 to September 1987, October 1987 to September 1988, August 2013 to current year (seasonal records only).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry and crest-stage gage. Elevation of gage is 5,566 ft above NAVD of 1988, from digital elevation model. Prior to Aug. 30, 2013, at site 400 ft downstream at different datum.
REMARKS - Water year 2014; records poor. Water year 2015; records fair except for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Water year 2016; records fair except for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Water year 2017; no estimated daily discharges. Records fair. Water year 2018; records fair except for flows above 214 ft³/s, and estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Water year 2019; records fair except for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Water year 2020; records poor. Natural flow of stream affected by storage reservoirs, diversions for irrigation and municipal use, groundwater withdrawals, and return flows from irrigated areas.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 2,810 ft³/s, Sept. 12, 2013, from contracted-opening and flow-over-road measurement of peak flow, gage height, 14.39 ft, from floodmark.
