LOCATION - Lat 38°13'30", long 104°15'37" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.18, T.21 S., R.61 W., Pueblo County, CO, Hydrologic Unit 11020006, near middle of span on upstream side of bridge on U.S. Highway 50, 0.8 mi upstream from mouth, and 1.6 mi south of Boone.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,859 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR-US-2011: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - January 1922 to September 1925 (monthly and annual discharge only, published in WSP 1311 as "near Nepesta"), October 1979 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 4,443.74 ft above NGVD of 1929. Jan. 1922 to Sept. 1925, at site on right bank at different datum. Oct. 1979 to Feb. 2011, at site on right bank at same datum.
REMARKS - Water year 2014; records fair except for flows above 100 ft³/s, and estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Water year 2015; records fair except for flows above 100 ft³/s, and estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Water year 2016; records fair except for flows above 100 ft³/s, and estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Water year 2017; records fair except for flows above 900 ft³/s, and estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Water year 2018; records poor. Natural flow of stream affected by storage reservoirs, diversions for irrigation, groundwater withdrawals, and return flows from irrigated areas.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 8,030 ft³/s, Aug. 12, 1981, from rating curve extended above 1,130 ft³/s, gage height, 10.90 ft, from floodmarks. No flow on many days during most years.
