LOCATION - Lat 37°33'42", long 97°51'10" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 SW 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.24, T.28 S., R.5 W., Kingman County, KS, Hydrologic Unit 11030015, on right bank at upstream side of county highway bridge, 5.3 mi southeast of Murdock, and at mile 68.0.
DRAINAGE AREA - 597 mi² of which 33 mi² probably is noncontributing. DA 597; CDA 564. Per automated delineation using 30-meter NHDPlus in Kansas StreamStats website 9/11/2017.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1561: 1957(P).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1950 to September 1959. Annual maximums, water years 1960-64. June 1964 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. The datum of the gage is 1,358.04 ft. above msl. (NAVD88) (Static survey,OPUS-RS) The previous datum was 1,357.81 ft. above NGVD of 1929 (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers bench mark).
REMARKS - Natural flow affected by ground-water withdrawals, diversions for irrigation, and return flow from irrigated areas. Satellite telemeter at station.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of June 26, 1957 reached a stage of 11.87 ft. with a corresponding discharge of 25,900 cfs. Flood of Oct. 31, 1979 reached a stage of 12.84 ft. with a corresponding discharge of 28,700 cfs.
