LOCATION - Lat 37°30'30", long 95°50'00" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 SW 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.24, T.29 S., R.14 E., Wilson County, KS, Hydrologic Unit 11070102, on right bank at downstream side of bridge on Kansas Highway 96, 0.8 mi upstream from Clear Creek, 1.0 mi downstream from Salt Creek, 1.0 mi south of Fredonia, and at mile 25.3.
DRAINAGE AREA - 827 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1117: Drainage area. WSP 1341: 1939-40.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1938 to current year. Monthly discharge only for October and November 1938, published in WSP 1311. Published as "near Fredonia" 1952-57.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Current datum of gage is 819.83 ft. above msl. (NAVD88) Previous datum of gage was 819.09 ft. above NGVD of 1929 (levels by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers). Prior to Dec. 21, 1949, non-recording gage at same site and NGVD29 datum.
REMARKS - Considerable regulation since 1949 by Fall River Lake (station 07168000), 28.9 mi upstream, and during low flow by Fredonia City Water Reservoir, 1.0 mi upstream. Satellite telemeter at station.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum stage known since at least 1904, 36.17 ft, Apr. 16, 1945, site and datum then in use.
