LOCATION - Lat 36°51'04", long 95°35'09" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.03, T.27 N., R.16 E., Nowata County, OK, Hydrologic Unit 11070103, on right bank on downstream side of State Highway 10 bridge, 2.8 mi east of Lenapah, 5.5 mi upstream from Cedar Creek, and at mile 144.6.
DRAINAGE AREA - 3,584 mi². From automated delineation using 10-meter National Elevation Dataset digital elevation model data dated 10/01/2006 and Watershed Boundary Dataset dated 10/01/2006, using Albers Equal-Area Projection, North American Datum 1983.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 977: 1942 (M). WDR 2012: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1938 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1311.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' satellite telemeter at station. The current datum in use is 645.38 feet NAVD88. Current datum was determined by GNSS Level II REF FRAME: NAD_83(2011)(EPOCH:2010.0000) ITRF2014 (EPOCH:2022.6322)[NAVD88 (Computed using GEOID18)] Tied to locally set GNSS hub. Prior to 10/10/2022 datum in use was 644.90 NGVD29. Some regulation since April 1949 by Fall River Reservoir in Kansas. Flow regulated since 1960 by Toronto Lake in Kansas. Flow has been further regulated since 1966 by Elk City Lake in Kansas.
REMARKS -

All estimated periods are considered poor unless noted otherwise.

Prior to regulation, water years 1939-59, annual mean was 2,084 ft³/s.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - The maximum peak stage occurred during backwater from Oologah Lake. Minimum daily discharge for period of record, no flow at times in 1939,1940, and 1956.
