LOCATION - Lat 36°22'59", long 95°02'52" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NW 1/4 SW 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.15, T.22 N., R.21 E., Mayes County, OK, Hydrologic Unit 11070209, right face of dam on Spavinaw Creek at Spavinaw, and at mile 5.5.
DRAINAGE AREA - 388 mi². From automated delineation using 10-meter National Elevation Dataset digital elevation model data dated 10/01/2006 and Watershed Boundary Dataset dated 10/01/2006, using Albers Equal-Area Projection, North American Datum 1983.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR 2012: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1991 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers satellite telemeter at station. Datum is -0.81 feet NAVD 88. Current datum was determined by a GNSS Level II survey REF FRAME: NAD_83(2011)(EPOCH:2010.0000) ITRF2014 (EPOCH:2021.5526)[NAVD88 (Computed using GEOID18)] and tied to RM-11. Prior to 10/01/2021 the datum in use was NGVD 1929.
REMARKS -

Quality of data for all periods can be obtained by contacting the Oklahoma-Texas Water Science Center. 

Estimated record considered poor unless noted otherwise. 

Reservoir is formed by earth dam with uncontrolled concrete spillway. Levels are maintained in Spavinaw Lake by releases from Lake Eucha. Storage began 1924; conservation pool first filled November 1924. Capacity 41,200 acre-ft at elevation 682 ft. Dead storage, 15,300 acre-ft at elevation 662 ft for previous rating. New capacity table is based on data provided by OWRB and put into use Oct. 1, 2007. Capacities from 680.00 ft to 688.00 ft are based upon a linear extension of existing data. Capacity 29,500 acre-ft at elevation 682 ft. Dead storage, 7,130 acre-ft at elevation 662 ft. Figures given herein represent total contents.

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of April 1942 reached a stage of 689.13 ft, contents unknown.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum contents, 41,630 acre-ft, July 3, 2004, elevation 683.83 ft;  Maximum elevation, 687.84 ft, Apr. 29, 2017; minimum, 20,560 acre-ft, Jan. 16, 2007, elevation, 672.54 ft.
