07242000 NORTH CANADIAN RIVER NEAR WETUMKA, OK
LOCATION - Lat 35°15'56", long 96°12'21" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.12, T.9 N., R.10 E., Hughes County, OK, Hydrologic Unit 11100302, on left downstream side of bridge on U.S. Highway 75, 2.3 mi upstream from Wewoka Creek, 2.5 miles northeast of Wetumka, and at mile 84.4.
DRAINAGE AREA - 14,549 mi² of which 3,497 mi² probably is noncontributing. from automated delineation using 10-meter National Elevation Dataset digital elevation model data dated 10/01/2006 and Watershed Boundary Dataset dated 10/01/2006, using Albers Equal-Area Projection, North American Datum 1983.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1937 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1311.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 678.68 above NAVD of 1988 determined by GNSS Level II Survey using Alltera network with RTK Trimble R-10 tied to RM-3 by USGS Personnel on 07-29-2019. Prior to 07-29-2019 Datum of gage was 678.28 ft above NGVD of 1929. From Aug. 8, 1991 to Fed. 24 1985 at same site and at datum 5.00 ft higher. From Feb. 23, 1985 to Jan. 20, 1939 recording gage 500 ft upstream at datum 5.00 ft higher. From Jan. 19, 1939 to Oct. 1937 nonrecording gage at site 500 ft upstream and at datum 5.00 ft higher.
REMARKS -

10/01/2022 - 09/30/2023: records fair.  Quality of data for other periods can be obtained by contacting the Oklahoma-Texas Water Science Center.  Some regulation by Lake Overholser (station 07240500) and other dams upstream.

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood in October 1923 reached a stage of 26.9 ft, from information provided by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
