LOCATION - Lat 34°50'55", long 102°10'32" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Deaf Smith County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 11120101, on left bank, 22 ft upstream from a 90° V-notch weir; 8.2 mi southwest of Umbarger, TX; 4.3 miles southeast of Dawn, TX and 11.5 river miles upstream from the Buffalo Lake Dam.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,660 mi² of which 1,122 mi² probably is noncontributing.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR TX-2009: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - June 1938 to Nov. 1939 (miscellaneous discharge measurements), Dec. 1939 to Sept. 1954 published as "at reservoir near Umbarger", Mar. 1967 to Sept. 1973, Oct. 2002 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and V-notch sharp-crested weir. Datum of gage is 3,648.20 ft above NGVD of 1929. Prior to Sept. 22, 2015, at datum 0.93 ft higher. Satellite telemeter at station.
REMARKS - No known regulation. Surface runoff represents inflow to Buffalo Lake. No flow at times. Some records listed in the "Period of Record" for surface water may not be available electronically.
