LOCATION - Lat 34°38'16", long 98°59'54" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NW 1/4 sec.21, T.2 N., R.17 W., Kiowa County, OK, Hydrologic Unit 11120303, on downstream right abutment of bridge on State Highway 62, 1.5 miles downstream from confluence of West and East Otter Creeks, 3.5 miles southwest of Snyder and at mile 18.0.
DRAINAGE AREA - 162 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - July 2000 to September 2008. (discontinued) Currently operated as stage only. September 1984 to June 2000 operated as high flow site, records available in district office.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1310.59ft above NAVD of 1988 determined by GNSS Level 4 Survey using Alltera network with RTK Trimble R-10 tied to RM-1 by USGS Personnel on 05/26/2021. Prior to 05/26/2021 datum of gage was 1310ft above NGVD of 1929.
REMARKS - 10/01/2022 - 09/30/2023: records fair. Quality of data for other periods can be obtained by contacting the Oklahoma-Texas Water Science Center. Flow partially regulated by Tom Steed Reservoir (07305400), 8 mi upstream on West Otter Creek.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of Feb. 5, 1996 reached a stage of 15.22 ft.
