LOCATION - Lat 35°08'37", long 98°26'33" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.27, T.8 N., R.12 W., Caddo County, OK, Hydrologic Unit 11130302, on left bank 10 ft upstream from county road bridge, 0.3 mi upstream from Punjo Creek, 2.3 mi downstream from Fort Cobb Dam, 3.0 mi north of Fort Cobb, and at mile 5.8.

DRAINAGE AREA - 311 mi². from automated delineation using 10-meter National Elevation Dataset digital elevation model data dated 10/01/2006 and Watershed Boundary Dataset dated 10/01/2006, using Albers Equal-Area Projection, North American Datum 1983. Area at site used prior to Oct. 1,1969, 319 mi².

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1939 to current year. Published in WSP 1311. Prior to October 1960, published as Pond Creek near Fort Cobb.

GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1255.13 above NAVD of 1988 determined by GNSS Level II Survey using Alltera network with RTK Trimble R-10 tied to RM-5 by USGS Personnel on 07-24-2019. Prior to 07-24-2019 Datum of gage was 1,254.49 ft above NGVD of 1929 (levels by Bureau of Reclamation). Oct.1, 1939, to Aug. 29, 1940, nonrecording gage and Aug. 30, 1940, to Sept. 30, 1969, water-stage recorder at site 0.8 mi downstream at datum 1.92 ft lower. Oct. 16, 1969, to Sept. 30, 1982, gage at same site and datum 5.00 ft higher.

REMARKS - 10/01/2021 - 09/30/2022: records fair, Quality of data for other periods can be obtained by contacting the Oklahoma-Texas Water Science Center. Flow regulated since March 1959, by Fort Cobb Reservoir (station 07325900).

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of June 15, 1937, reached a stage of 19.3 ft, site and datum used in 1939, from information by local resident.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge for period of record, 35,000 ft³/s, May 17, 1949, from rating curve extended above 4,300 ft³/s on basis of contracted opening measurement. Maximum peak flow for water years 1963-2014 of 2,300 cfs was estimated, affected by backwater from Punjo Creek. Maximum peak stage for period of record of 23.01 ft. on Aug. 19, 2007, from high-water mark, occurred during backwater from Punjo Creek.

AVERAGE DISCHARGE FOR PERIOD PRIOR TO REGULATION - Water years 1940-58, 50.2 ft³/s.
