USGS Water-Year Summary 2021
073814675 Bayou Boeuf at Railroad Bridge at Amelia, LA
LOCATION - Lat 29°40'06", long 91°05'59" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Assumption Parish, LA, Hydrologic Unit 08090302, on railroad bridge cross Bayou Boeuf in Amelia, LA; 2 miles downstream of Lake Palourde, 1.8 miles upstream from the confluence of Bayou Boeuf and Bayou Chene, and approx. 300 feet upstream of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers water level gage.
DRAINAGE AREA - Indeterminate.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - March 1997 to September 2015, October 2015 to current year(unit values only).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and acoustic velocity meter. Datum of gage is -1.88ft NAVD 88 GEOID12B.
REMARKS - Records fair.
Site affected by wind, tide, and boat traffic. Reverse flow at times.
Satellite telemetry at station.

Positive and negative flows at this site are defined by direction and are specified to be parallel to the channel at the gage location. The Positive flow direction is South.

Streamflow at this site is affected significantly by astronomical tides. Astronomical tides cause significant cycles of approximately 24.84 hours at this site. Because a different portion of the 24.84 hour tidal cycle is averaged in successive daily (24-hour) computations, a systematic secondary oscillation, unrelated to basin hydrology and having a period of about two weeks may be apparent in daily data published from October 1997 to September 2015.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum positive discharge, 40,300ft³/s, Aug 29, 2005; maximum gage height, 4.53ft, May 19, 2019; maximum negative discharge, -34,600ft³/s, Sep 24, 2005; minimum gage height, -0.37ft, Feb 5, 2000.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1998 to current year.
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: March 2000 to current year. WATER TEMPERATURE: March 2000 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitor recording specific conductance, and water temperature.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Maximum recorded, 24,900 microsiemens/cm, Sept 13, 2008; minimum recorded, 106 microsiemens/cm, Sep 17, 2016. WATER TEMPERATURE: Maximum recorded, 35.8°C, Aug. 2, 2010; minimum recorded, 4.1°C, Jan. 4, 2001.
