LOCATION - Lat 29°41'52", long 91°22'22" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in sec.56, T.15 S., R.11 E., St. Mary Parish, LA, Hydrologic Unit 08080101, at Southern Railways System bridge, 0.03 mi downstream from State Highway 90, 0.35 mi downstream from Bayou Teche, 0.5 miles west of Calumet, and 9.8 mi west of Morgan City.
DRAINAGE AREA - Indeterminate.

Parameter codes 80154 (suspended sediment concentration, mg/L), 80155 (suspended sediment discharge, tons/day), and 70331 (suspended sediment sieve diameter percent <0.0625 mm) were revised in November 2018, as described in USGS SIR 2018-5147 (https://pubs.er.usgs.gov/publication/sir20185147) for the period Oct. 17, 1989 to February 10, 2015.

PERIOD OF RECORD - June 1986 to September 2015, October 2015 to current year(unit values only). April 1973 to June 1975 (discharge measurements only). October 1976 to May 1986 (gage height and discharge measurements only). Gage heights, May 1942 to September 1976 (collected in same vicinity) are in reports of Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District.

Positive and negative flows at this site are defined by direction and are specified to be parallel to the channel at the gage location. The Positive flow direction is South-southwest.

Streamflow at this site is affected significantly by astronomical tides. Astronomical tides cause significant cycles of approximately 24.84 hours at this site. Because a different portion of the 24.84 hour tidal cycle is averaged in successive daily (24-hour) computations, a systematic secondary oscillation, unrelated to basin hydrology and having a period of about two weeks may be apparent in daily data published from June 1986 to September 2015.
