LOCATION - Lat 32°16'21.47", long 94°33'57.06" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Rusk County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 12010002, in Martin Creek Lake State Park on footbridge, 0.6 mi upstream from spillway, 4.2 mi southwest of Tatum and 21.3 mi upstream from mouth.

PERIOD OF RECORD - Apr. 1974 to Sept. 2002 (contents), Oct. 2002 to current year. PERIOD OF RECORD, Water-Quality.-- CHEMICAL DATA: June 1975 to Nov. 1983. RADIOCHEMICAL DATA: Jan. 1981.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 0 ft above NGVD of 1929 and 0.05 ft above NAVD of 1988. To obtain elevation values in NAVD 1988, subtract 0.05 ft. Prior to May 15, 1976, non-recording gage near left end of dam 1.9 mi downstream at same datum. Prior to Oct. 2019 at Martin Lake Steam Electric Station on retaining wall, right of intake to generating plant No. 1. Satellite telemeter at station.
REMARKS - Some records listed in the "Period of Record" for surface water and water quality may not be available electronically. The lake is formed by a rolled earthfill dam 8,675 ft long, including a 1,000-foot uncontrolled spillway. Deliberate impoundment began in Apr. 1974. The uncontrolled spillway is an excavated channel cut through natural ground and located at the left end of the dam. The controlled spillway is a concrete ogee design with four 14.0- by 40.0-foot-wide tainter gates located near the left end of the dam. The low-flow outlet works consist of a 3.0- by 5.0-foot conduit with a sluice gate located in one of the gate piers. There is an 8-inch pipe with sluice gate. The dam is owned by the Texas Utilities Services, Inc. There are no known diversions. Data regarding the dam are given in the following table:
