Water-Year Summary for Site 08033810
The lake is formed by a rolled earth fill dam 2,400 ft in length (including the service spillway) with a 600-foot-wide uncontrolled spillway near right (west) end of dam. Deliberate impoundment began May 1, 1957. The outlet works consist of four 35 ft wide X 10 ft high tainter gates, each with a one ft stop log on top. The low-flow outlet consists of a valved, controlled 24 inch concrete pipe for low-flow releases. The dam is owned by the Angelina-Nacogdoches Counties Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 (Angelina-Nacogdoches Co. WCID#1). The water is used for industrial purposes (Luminant Energy. Southern Company Power) in the surrounding area, with the City of Henderson holding an option for future water use. Discharge is into the channel of the service spillway.
