08042820 Lost Creek Reservoir near Jacksboro, TX
LOCATION - Lat 33°14'36", long 98°07'11" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Jack County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 12030101, located on north streamward side of dam on Lost Creek 3.0 mi northeast of Jacksboro.
DRAINAGE AREA - 123 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - Elevation data for the period of Jan. 28, 2021, to Aug. 8, 2022, were revised on Nov. 4, 2022, based on changes to the gage base reference elevation.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Mar. 1999 to Sept. 2002 (contents), Oct. 2002 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 0 ft above NGVD of 1929 and 0.74 ft below NAVD of 1988. To obtain elevation values in NAVD 1988, add 0.74 ft. Satellite telemeter at station.
REMARKS - Some records listed in the "Period of Record" for surface water may not be available electronically. The lake is formed by a zoned earth and rock fill embankment 2,245 ft long. The dam was completed and storage begun in early to mid 1990. A 60-in diameter reinforced concrete tower serves as the principal spillway. The emergency spillway is an earth-cut side-channel spillway. The dam was built by the City of Jacksboro to impound water for municipal and recreational use. There was no known diversion from the lake during the current water year. Data regarding the dam are given in the following table:
