LOCATION - Lat 32°39'02", long 97°26'54" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Tarrant County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 12030102, in intake structure of Benbrook Dam on Clear Fork Trinity River, 2.5 mi south of Benbrook, 3.5 mi upstream from Marys Creek and 14.6 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 429 mi².

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Oct. 1952 to Sept. 2000, (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers furnished contents), Oct. 2000 to Sept. 2002 (contents), Oct. 2002 to current year. Prior to Oct. 1970, published as "Benbrook Reservoir". PERIOD OF RECORD, Water-Quality.-- CHEMICAL DATA: Feb. 1964 to July 1979. BIOCHEMICAL DATA: Feb. 1964 to June 1973.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 0 ft above NGVD of 1929 and 0.39 ft below NAVD of 1988. To obtain elevations in NAVD 1988, add 0.39 ft. Satellite telemeter at station.
REMARKS - Some records listed in the "Period of Record" for surface water and water quality may not be available electronically. The lake is formed by a rolled earthfill dam 9,130 ft long, including a 500-ft uncontrolled off-channel concrete-gravity spillway with a 100-ft notch in center of ogee weir section. The outlet works consist of a 13.0-ft diameter concrete conduit controlled by two 6.5 by 13.0-ft broome-type gates and two 30-in steel pipes controlled by slide gates. Deliberate impoundment began Sept. 29, 1952. From Aug. 1950 to Sept. 28, 1952, the lake was operated as a detention basin only. The lake was built for flood control, navigation and low-flow regulation. Data regarding the dam are given in the following table:
