LOCATION - Lat 28°57'03", long 95°20'19" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Brazoria County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 12040205, 6,000 ft. downstream from Brazos River diversion channel nr. Freeport, Texas.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Aug. 1978 to current.
GAGE - Water-stage recorders and crest-stage gages located on the upstream and downstream sides of the hurricane flood gate.  Datum of gage is 0.11 ft. below National Geodetic vertical datum, 1973 adjustment, unadjusted for subsidence.  Telephone modem and satellite telemeter at station.
COOPERATION - Gage operated at request of Velasco Drainage District, Freeport, Texas.
REMARKS - Hurricane floodgate for storm surge protection with upstream and downstream stage recorders. Astronomical tides influence stage.
