LOCATION - Lat 33°34'51", long 99°16'02" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Baylor County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 12060101, on downstream side of bridge on U.S. Highways 277 and 283, 0.8 mi upstream from Wichita Valley Railway bridge, 1.0 mi southwest of courthouse in Seymour, and at mile 847.4.
DRAINAGE AREA - 15,538 mi² of which 9,566 mi² probably is noncontributing.

REMARKS - Since water year 1964, at least 10% of contributing drainage area has been regulated. Small diversions upstream from station for irrigation and oil field operations. No flow at times. EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood in 1906 reached a peak stage of 23.0 ft, present datum, from information by local residents.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD PRIOR TO REGULATION - WATER YEARS, 1924 to 1963: Maximum discharge, 95,400 ft³/s Oct. 16, 1926 (gage height, 17.16 ft, present datum); Maximum gage height, 23.00 ft, present datum, Sept. 28, 1955; no flow at times.
