08456300 Las Moras Springs at Brackettville, TX
LOCATION - Lat 29°18'33", long 100°25'13" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Kinney County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 13080001, in spring pool at Brackettville, Kinney County, 160 ft south of U.S. Hwy 90, and 250 ft upstream from Brackettville-Fort Clark Road bridge.
DRAINAGE AREA - Not applicable. This is a spring flow station.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Oct. 2003 to current year. Discharge measurements made Dec. 1895 to Aug. 2000 were published as miscellaneous measurements.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1100.76 ft above NGVD of 1929. Oct 03, 2003 to Aug 06, 2014 at site ~1200' upstream at different datum. Satellite telemeter at station.
REMARKS - Records poor due to the many fluctuations in stage caused by artificial manipulation of control structures. During periods of local runoff springflow is estimated using stage plot. Las Moras Springs emerge from the Edwards and associated limestones about 1200 ft above the gage. Some records listed in the "Period of Record" for surface water may not be available electronically.
