09153270 BIG SALT WASH AT FRUITA, CO.
LOCATION - Lat 39°09'51", long 108°45'00.94" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NE 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.18, T.1 N., R.2 W., Mesa County, CO, Hydrologic Unit 14010005, on right bank 107 ft downstream of railroad bridge, 0.4 mi upstream from mouth, and 1.0 mi northwest of Fruita.
DRAINAGE AREA - 142 mi².  
REVISIONS HISTORY - August 2021: 1972, date of peak discharge and date of peak stage, Sept. 17 was revised to Sept. 19.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - March 1973 to September 1977 (discontinued); June 2021 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 4,490 ft above NAVD of 1988, from digital map. Prior to Oct. 5, 2021, elevation of gage was 4,480 ft above NGVD of 1929, from topographic map. 
REMARKS - Water year 2021; no estimated daily discharges. Records fair except flows above 150 ft³/s, which are poor. Water year 2022; no estimated daily discharges. Records fair except for flows above 150 ft³/s, which are poor. Water year 2023; no estimated daily discharges. Records fair except for flows above 150 ft³/s, which are poor. Flow is mostly return flow and waste water from Government Highline and Grand Valley Canals. Several measurements of water quality were obtained and were published elsewhere in the U.S.G.S. Water Resources Data Reports, Part 2 (1974) and Volume 2 (1975-1977).
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of September 19, 1971, reached a stage of 13.08 ft, from floodmarks, discharge, 3,940 ft³/s, by contracted-opening measurement of peak flow.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 1,730 ft³/s, July 4, 1977, gage height, 8.76 ft, from rating curve extended above 160 ft³/s, on basis of contracted-opening measurement at gage height 13.08 ft.
