  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

USGS Water-Year Summary 2020
LOCATION - Lat 38°47'50", long 109°11'40" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.18, T.23 S., R.25 E., Grand County, UT, Hydrologic Unit 14030004, on the left bank 0.2 miles downstream from Line Canyon, 9.1 mi. upstream from the mouth, 13.5 mi. downstream from the Colorado-Utah State line, and 13.9 mi. southeast of Cisco, UT.
DRAINAGE AREA - 4,580 mi².
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1950 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1733.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Elevation of gage is 4,165 ft above NGVD of 1929, from river-profile map. December 6, 1950 to April 18, 1967, at site 400 ft downstream at different datum; April 19, 1967 to September 3, 1975 at site 210 ft downstream at different datum. Sep 4, 1975 to Apr 16, 2015 at site 200 ft downstream at same datum.
REMARKS - Records good except for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Flow regulated by McPhee Reservoir, capacity 381,000 acre-ft, since 1986. Many diversions for irrigation above station.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 17,400 ft³/s, Apr 21, 1958, gage height, 9.84 ft, at different datum; minimum daily discharge, 1.5 ft³/s, Jul 21, 2002.
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 2018 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - Unshielded and unheated 8-inch diameter tipping-bucket precipitation gage.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum daily precipitation, 1.12 in, Mar 13, 2019
REMARKS - During winter months when snow/ice is possible, snow accumulation in the gage may cause inaccurate instantaneous readings because it does not immediately melt. Due to this issue data during winter months tend to be deleted as uncertainty in the timing and the amount measured exist.
PERIOD OF RECORD - March 1951 to current year.
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - WATER TEMPERATURE: March 1951 to September 1959, October 1964 to September 1981, March 1982 to current year. SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: March 1951 to September 1959, October 1964 to September 1981, March 1982 to current year. SUSPENDED-SEDIMENT DISCHARGE: March 1951 to December 1953, October 1957 to September 1964. Unpublished daily records of specific conductance obtained before water year 1965 were included in the determination of extremes for period of daily record and are available in files of USGS Utah Water Science Center, Salt Lake City office.
REMARKS - Quality of data for specific periods can be obtained by contacting the Utah Water Science Center.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - WATER TEMPERATURE: Maximum observed, 32.0°C, Jul 9, 2002; minimum observed, -0.2°C, on many days. SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Maximum daily, 21,600 microsiemens/cm, Jul 9, 1977; minimum instantaneous, 126 microsiemens/cm, Oct 11, 2018.
