LOCATION - Lat 41°01'42.7", long 107°32'55.9" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NW 1/4 SE 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.08, T.12 N., R.90 W., Carbon County, WY, Hydrologic Unit 14050003, on left bank 1,000 ft upstream from Willow Creek, 45 ft upstream from bridge on Wyo. State Hwy 70, 0.8 mi west of Dixon, and 6 miles and east of Baggs. Elevation of gage is 6,340 ft above sea level from National American Vertical Datum of 1988. Station can be reached using road log at end of description.
DRAINAGE AREA - 988 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 1910 to September 1923, March 1938 to September 1997, September 2014 to present. No winter records 1972-1997.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 6,340 ft above sea level. May 27, 1910 to September 30, 1923 nonrecording gage at site 110 ft downstream, 60 ft downstream from highway bridge, at datum 2.98 ft higher; March 15, 1938 to September 30, 1957 water-stage recorder at site 110 ft downstream at datum 2.98 ft higher; October 1, 1957 to June 6, 1968 at site 700 ft downstream; June 7 to September 30, 1968 at site 125 ft downstream; and October 1, 1968 to September 30, 1997, at site 140 ft upstream, at present datum. September 2014 to present, water-stage recorder at site 45 ft upstream from highway bridge, at present datum. U.S. Geological Survey data collection platform with satellite telemetry at station.
REMARKS - Transbasin diversions and diversions for irrigation occur upstream from station. Partial regulation from High Savery Reservoir on Savery Creek (tributary to Little Snake River) about 5 miles upstream.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 13,000 ft³/s, May 16, 1984, gage height, 13.56 ft, from floodmarks; no flow several days in 1977, 1981, and 1992.
