09359500 ANIMAS RIVER AT TALL TIMBER RESORT ABOVE TACOMA, CO
LOCATION - Lat 37°35'50.70", long 107°46'37.08" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in sec.32, T.39 N., R.8 W., La Plata County, CO, Hydrologic Unit 14080104, on left bank on upstream side of bridge crossing, 0.02 mi downstream of Cascade Creek, 1.25 mi east of Electra Lake, 2.8 mi north of Tank Creek, and 5.1 mi north of Tacoma.
DRAINAGE AREA - 338 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR-US-2011: Drainage area. January 2015: 2007, daily discharge, Oct. 1-31, Apr. 1 to Sept. 30; 2008, daily discharge, Oct. 1-31, Apr. 1 to Sept. 30; 2009, daily discharge, Oct. 1-31, Apr. 1 to Sept. 30; 2010, daily discharge, Oct. 1 to Sept. 30; 2011, daily discharge, Oct. 1 to May 19. April 2016: WDR-US-2007, Maximum discharge. October 2016: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1945 to September 1956 (published as Animas River above Tacoma), August 2006 to September 2009 (seasonal records only), October 2009 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1313.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry and crest-stage gage. Elevation of gage is 7,520 ft above NGVD of 1929, from topographic map. Prior to Oct. 20, 2016, at site 2.2 mi upstream at different datum.
REMARKS - Water year 2014; records fair except for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Water year 2015; records fair except for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Water year 2016; records fair except for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - There were floods in 1911 and 1927. Maximum known flood occurred Oct. 5, 1911, but the stage of the 1927 flood was the greater of the two.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 9,500 ft³/s, June 18, 1949, from rating curve extended above 5,700 ft³/s, gage height, 8.86 ft.
