09400350 LITTLE COLORADO RIVER NEAR WINSLOW, AZ
LOCATION - Lat 35°00'42", long 110°39'02" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.28, T.19 N., R.16 E., Navajo County, AZ, Hydrologic Unit 15020008, about 4 mi east of Winslow, on the southwest corner (downstream right bank) of the Hwy 87 bridge about 0.2 mile south and 0.5 mile east of I-40 Exit 257.
DRAINAGE AREA - 16,192 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Dec. 2001 to current year. Records for May 1954 to Sept. 1956 at site 1 mi upstream, a major tributary enters between the two sites, records are not equivalent.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 4835.75 ft above NAVD of 1988. Prior to Nov. 15, 2022, the datum of the gage was reported as 4,863 ft above sea level, from Navajo County survey marker. Prior to Sept. 14, 2018, at site 1,820 ft downstream at same datum.
REMARKS - Records fair except for estimated daily discharges, which are poor. Flow is regulated by reservoirs upstream. Many diversions for irrigation above gage.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 20,000 ft³/s, Dec. 30, 2004, gage height, 20.23 ft; minimum daily, 1.0 ft³/s, Aug. 18-19, 2002.
