LOCATION - Lat 37°04'12", long 113°35'02" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SE 1/4 NW 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.06, T.43 S., R.15 W., Washington County, UT, Hydrologic Unit 15010010, on right bank 0.4 mi downstream from mouth of Santa Clara River, 100 ft upstream from I-15 bridge, about 1.5 mi northeast of Bloomington, and 2.5 mi south of St. George.
DRAINAGE AREA - 3,853 mi².

GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage. Datum of gage is 2,511.34 ft. above NAVD of 1988 from a Level II GNSS survey conducted on February 10, 2021. Prior to September 19, 1978 at site 1.25 mi downstream at different datum. Sep 19, 1978 to May 18, 1992 and Feb 25, 1993 to Nov 18, 1993 at site 650 ft upstream. May 18, 1992 to Feb 25, 1993 at site 880 ft upstream. Nov 18, 1993 to Apr 21, 2004 at site 700 ft upstream. Records for Sep 19, 1978 to Apr 21m 2004 at datum 10.0 ft higher. Apr 21, 2004 to Jan 27, 2005 700 ft upstream on right bank, same datum. Jan 27, 2005 to Nov 11, 2011 700 ft upstream left bank, same datum.
REMARKS - Records generally good except estimated discharges and flows over 1,000 ft³/s which are fair to poor. Some regulation of flow by reservoirs and diversions for irrigation upstream of station.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 60,000 ft³/s (estimated on basis of slope conveyance), Jan 1, 1989, gage height, 25.70 ft, result of Quail Creek reservoir dike failure; minimum daily discharge, 5.1 ft³/s, Jul 11, 2003.
