LOCATION - Lat 33°53'14", long 111°57'12" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 SW 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.4, T.6 N., R.4 E., Maricopa County, AZ, Hydrologic Unit 15060106, on left bank 1,500 ft downstream from Cottonwood Creek and 3.7 mi north of town of Cave Creek.
DRAINAGE AREA - 82.7 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Oct. 1980 to current year. Prior to Oct. 1989, published as "below Cottonwood Wash."
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Elevation of gage is 2,280 ft above sea level, from topographic map. Prior to Jan. 8, 1993, at datum 2.00 ft higher.
REMARKS - Records poor. No regulation or diversion upstream from station.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of Feb. 19, 1980, reached a stage of 10.4 ft, from flood marks, discharge, 7,020 ft³/s.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 14,200 ft³/s Jan 21, 2010, gage height, 16.49 ft as measured from staff plate to high water mark, based on rating; no flow for many days most years.
