LOCATION - Lat 32°43'54", long 114°37'55" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.26, T.16 S., R.22 E., Imperial County, CA, Hydrologic Unit 15030107, San Bernardino meridian, on right bank 1,000 ft. downstream from Yuma Main Canal wasteway, 0.6 mi. downstream from former gaging station on Colorado River at Yuma, 1.1 mi. northwest of downtown post office in Yuma, 5.2 mi. downstream from Gila River, and 6.4 mi. upstream from northerly international boundary.
DRAINAGE AREA - 246,500 mi². Approximately, including all closed basins entirely within the drainage boundary, primarily 3,959 mi² in the Great Divide basin of southern Wyoming is noncontributing.

If records for Yuma Main Canal wasteway at Yuma (sta. 09525000) and Reservation Main Drain No. 4 (sta. 09530000) are subtracted from records at this station, records equivalent to those published 1902-64 as "Colorado River at Yuma" (sta. 09521000) can be obtained.

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum gage height since at least 1878, 34.0 ft, Jan. 22, 1916, discharge, 250,000 ft³/s, at former gaging station at Yuma.
