09527500 ALL-AMERICAN CANAL BELOW PILOT KNOB WASTEWAY, CA
LOCATION - Lat 32°44'07", long 114°43'23" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 NE 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.26, T.16 S., R.21 E., Imperial County, CA, Hydrologic Unit 15030107, San Bernardino Meridian, on left bank 0.4 mi downstream from Pilot Knob wasteway, 6 mi west of Yuma, AZ, 15 mi upstream from turnout to Coachella Canal, and 21.2 mi downstream from intake at Imperial Dam.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1961 to current year.
GAGE - Two recording gages are used at this station. The forebay gage, a Stevens continuous water-stage recorder with float-tape are housed in a half-length metal shelter mounted over a 12 in. transit pipe on the right bank 200 ft. upstream from Pilot Knob check gates. Datum of gage is 150.00 ft. NGVD confirmed by levels of September 29, 1977. This gage is also the forebay gage for station 09527000, Pilot Knob Power Plant and Waste Way. An outside staff gage is available for reference at both of these gages. The tail race gage, a Stevens continuous water-stage recorder with float-tape in a half-length shelter mounted over a 3 ft. concrete well with an intake pipe. The intake pipe is connected to a flushing device for cleaning purposes. Gage is on left bank 0.4 miles below check gates and 50 ft. above measuring cable. Datum of gage is 150.00 ft. NGVD.
COOPERATION - Daily discharges furnished by Imperial Irrigation District.
REMARKS - Records are rated good. Water is used for power development at four sites below station and for irrigation in Coachella and Imperial Valley.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum daily discharge, 7,610 ft³/s, April 27 and 28, 1976; Minimum discharge, 0.0 ft³/s, January 4, 1967.
