  • Notice - The USGS Water Resources Mission Area's priority is to maintain the safety and well-being of our communities, including providing critical situational awareness in times of flooding in all 50 U.S. states and additional territories. Our hydrologic monitoring stations continue to send data in near real-time to NWISWeb, and we are continuing critical water monitoring activities to protect life and property on a case-by-case basis. COOPERATION - Records provided by Southern California Edison Co., under general supervision of the U.S. Geological Survey, in connection with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission project no. 1394.
REMARKS - Most of the water is diverted at McGee Creek Diversion Dam to Bishop Creek Powerplant No. 2 for power development. Published values are from observations of stage on dates listed and head over orifice rating. With reliable acoustic measurements now available at this site, there is high confidence that published discharges are lower than actual discharge values. Every measurement made has indicated flows greater than those dictated by the historical head over orifice rating. See schematic diagram of Bishop Creek Basin available from the California Water Science Center.
