10342900 Independence Lake near Truckee, CA
LOCATION - Lat 39°27'07", long 120°17'23" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NW 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.35, T.19 N., R.15 E., Sierra County, CA, Hydrologic Unit 16050102, on right bank of outlet channel, 60 ft upstream from outlet gates, and 10.5 mi northwest of Truckee.
DRAINAGE AREA - 7.51 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - November 1988 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 2.04 ft above NAVD of 1988. Historically, datum of gage published as NGVD of 1929. However, there is uncertainty as to the exact source of this datum which may differ from true NGVD29 by almost 2 ft. 
REMARKS - Lake levels regulated by an earth-fill dam at the outlet constructed in 1939. Contents based on capacity table dated 1941. Usable capacity, 17,300 acre-ft, between elevations 6,921.0 ft, invert of outlet gate and 6,949.0 ft, normal maximum storage level. Water is used for irrigation and power development downstream.
