LOCATION - Lat 33°27'51", long 117°07'26" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Riverside County, CA, Hydrologic Unit 18070302, in Temecula Grant, on right bank, 100 ft upstream of the Metropolitan Water District pipe crossing, 0.4 mi upstream of the Rainbow Canyon Road/Old Highway 395 Bridge, 0.8 mi upstream from Temecula Creek, and 2.5 mi southeast of Temecula.
DRAINAGE AREA - 13.1 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1987 to current year. Discharge measurements only, October 1991 to September 1992.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 1,030.56 ft above NAVD of 1988. Prior to Sept. 6, 2006, at site 0.4 mi downstream at different datum.
REMARKS - No regulation or diversion upstream from station. Discharge measurements shown to aid in the understanding of flows during periods of missing record. See schematic diagram of Santa Margarita River Basin available from the California Water Science Center.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 3,120 ft³/s, Jan. 16, 1993, gage height, 8.12 ft, from rating curve extended above 400 ft³/s on basis of step-backwater analysis at site and datum in use prior to Sept. 6, 2006; no flow for many days each year.
