LOCATION - Lat 34°35'15", long 118°39'21" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NW 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.26, T.6 N., R.17 W., Los Angeles County, CA, Hydrologic Unit 18070102, in Angeles National Forest, in powerplant on shore of Elderberry Forebay, and 7 mi north of Castaic.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 2009 to current year.
GAGE - Acoustic Velocity probes in all penstocks. Elevation of gage is 1,600 ft above NGVD of 1929, from topographic map.
COOPERATION - Records were provided by California Department of Water Resources, under general supervision of the U.S. Geological Survey, in connection with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission project no. 2426.
REMARKS - Station measures the California Aqueduct water in the West Branch of the Aqueduct delivered to Castaic Lake. This station receives water from Pyramid Lake and delivers it to Elderberry Forebay. During periods of low power cost, water is pumped back to Pyramid Lake. Powerplant built and operated by Los Angeles Department of Water and Power under agreement with Department of Water Resources.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum daily discharge, 3,560 ft³/s, Sept. 27, 2010, maximum daily pumpage, -2,360 ft³/s, Sept. 28, 2010.
