LOCATION - Lat 34°37'51", long 118°44'51" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NW 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.11, T.6 N., R.18 W., Los Angeles County, CA, Hydrologic Unit 18070102, on right bank of concrete-lined channel beside old highway 99, 1.0 mi north of Frenchman's Flat, 1.5 mi downstream from Pyramid Lake Dam, and 12.5 mi north of Castiac.
DRAINAGE AREA - 308 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1976 to September 1978, November 2004 to September 2023 (discontinued) (high flow, seasonal records only). December 1963 to September 1976 in files of California Department of Water Resources. SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Water years 1972-80.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 2,098.38 ft above NAVD of 1988. December 1963 to September 1978, at site 0.2 mi downstream at datum 30 ft lower.
REMARKS - Flow regulated by Pyramid Lake (station 11109520). Station is used to monitor releases from Pyramid Lake into Piru Creek River Basin. See schematic diagram of Santa Clara River Basin available from the California Water Science Center.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 36,000 ft³/s, estimated, Feb. 25, 1969, by California Department of Water Resources; no flow Jan. 1-18, 1974.
