LOCATION - Lat 38°29'55", long 121°27'06" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.32, T.8 N., R.5 E., Sacramento County, CA, Hydrologic Unit 18020109, on right bank, 750 ft upstream from Florin Road, 1.6 mi upstream from Elder Creek, and 3.8 mi south of State Capitol Building in Sacramento.
DRAINAGE AREA - 53.4 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR CA-72-2: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1959 to September 1987, October 1997 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 10.08 ft above NAVD of 1988. Prior to June 29, 1960, at site 650 ft downstream at datum 1.55 ft higher. June 29, 1960, to Sept. 12, 1965, at site 475 ft upstream at datum 2.71 ft higher.
REMARKS - No regulation or diversion above station. Summer flow is sustained by wastewater from domestic and industrial use. During major storm events record can be affected by backwater from Beach Lake located 5.7 mi downstream from gage. Flow is diverted by pumps into the Sacramento River. Records poor for 2017 water year. Records poor for 2016 water year. Records poor for 2015 water year. Records fair for 2014 water year.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 2,860 ft³/s, Dec. 31, 2005, gage height, 9.72 ft, maximum gage height, 10.40 ft, Feb. 17, 1986; no flow at times in 1960, 1962, 1965.
