11421770 Bear River below Drum Afterbay, near Blue Canyon, CA
LOCATION - Lat 39°15'16", long 120°46'26" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.17, T.16 N., R.11 E., Placer County, CA, Hydrologic Unit 18020126, on left bank, 60 ft downstream from Drum Afterbay Dam, and 3.5 mi west of Blue Canyon.
DRAINAGE AREA - 12.3 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 1966 to current year, low flows only April to September 1966 and since October 1998.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and 4-ft steel Cipolletti weir set in a concrete broad-crested weir. Elevation of gage is 3,300 ft above NGVD of 1929, from topographic map. April 1966 to May 25, 1967, water-stage recorder at present site at different datum. May 26, 1967, to Feb. 11, 1968, water-stage recorder at site 1,000 ft downstream at different datum.
COOPERATION - Records were collected by Pacific Gas and Electric Co., under general supervision of the U.S. Geological Survey, in connection with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission project no. 2310.
REMARKS - Records not computed above 13.5 ft³/s. Water for Dutch Flat No. 1 Powerplant and Dutch Flat No. 2 Flume is diverted from Drum Afterbay just upstream from station. See schematic diagram of Bear River Basin available from the California Water Science Center.
