LOCATION - Lat 38°42'31", long 120°03'02" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NW 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.18, T.10 N., R.18 E., Alpine County, CA, Hydrologic Unit 18020129, Eldorado National Forest, on right bank, 500 ft downstream from main dam and outlet gate of Caples Lake, and 1.3 mi east of Kirkwood.

Records of release flows plus spillway flows for September 1922 to September 1992 were published as "Caples Lake Outlet near Kirkwood" (station 11437000).
