LOCATION - Lat 47°41'22", long 121°42'44" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.31, T.26 N., R.9 E., King County, WA, Hydrologic Unit 17110010, on left bank 0.1 mi upstream from private road bridge, 1.6 mi downstream from South Fork Tolt Reservoir, 9.8 mi northeast of Carnation, and at mile 6.8.
DRAINAGE AREA - 19.7 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - 2016 (M), 2017 (M).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1952 to December 1963, June 1969 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Elevation of gage is 1,300 ft above NGVD of 1929, from river-profile map.
REMARKS - Regulation by South Fork Tolt Reservoir since September 1963. During the current water year the Seattle Public Utilites diverted an average daily discharge of about 71 ft³/s upstream from the station. U.S. Geological Survey satellite telemeter at station.
  • Water Year 2014: No estimated daily discharges. Records good except for Oct. 1 to Oct. 31, which are fair. City of Seattle Water Department diverted an average daily discharge of 77 ft³/s.
  • Water Year 2015: No estimated daily discharges. Records good. City of Seattle Water Department diverted an average daily discharge of 72 ft³/s.
  • Water Year 2016: No estimated daily discharges. Records good. City of Seattle Water Department diverted an average daily discharge of 66 ft³/s.
  • Water Year 2017: No estimated daily discharges. Records good. City of Seattle Water Department diverted an average daily discharge of 71 ft³/s.
  • Water Year 2018: Records good except for estimated discharges, which are fair. City of Seattle Water Department diverted an average daily discharge of 74 ft³/s.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 6,500 ft³/s, Dec. 15, 1959, gage height, 7.45 ft, from rating curve extended above 2,700 ft³/s; maximum gage height, 7.62 ft, Nov. 20, 1958, backwater from debris; minimum discharge, 8.4 ft³/s, Sept. 12, 1963, minimum gage height, 0.81 ft, Aug. 23-27, 1958.

  • Water Years 2014-2017: Water temperature records are excellent.
  • Water Year 2018: Water temperature records are excellent except for Feb. 4-5, which are good. No record March 25-26 and May 18-21.
  • Water Year 2019: Water temperature records are excellent except for April 29 to Sep. 30, which are good. No record May 19, 22-24.
  • Water Year 2020: WATER TEMPERATURE records are excellent except for Oct. 1 to Feb. 13, which are good, Feb. 14 to April 7 and May 6 to Aug. 4, which are fair, and April 8 to May 5, which are poor. No record Dec. 12, Jan. 31, Feb. 6-7, and April 13, 16, 20-23. TURBIDITY records are poor. No record Oct. 1 to Dec 11.
