LOCATION - Lat 48°50'31", long 122°17'35" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SW 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.28, T.39 N., R.4 E., Whatcom County, WA, Hydrologic Unit 17110004, on left bank at Highway 542 bridge at Nugents Corner, and at mile 30.9.
DRAINAGE AREA - 589 mi². includes 5 mi² in Canada.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 2002 to September 2004 (gage heights only). October 15 to April 15, 2005 (discharge only). October 2005 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is NGVD of 1929.
REMARKS - U.S. Geological Survey satellite telemeter at station. Gage height record previous to October 1, 2004, needs to have a -0.12 ft correction applied.
  • Water Year 2014 to 2016: No estimated discharge. Records good.
  • Water Year 2017: Records good except for estimated daily discharges, which are fair.
  • Water Year 2018: Records good except for Feb. 8 to April 12, which are fair.
  • Water Year 2019:  Records good except for estimated discharges, which are poor.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 56,300 ft³/s, Nov. 6, 2006, gage height, 149.61 ft; minimum discharge, 478 ft³/s, Feb. 21, 2014, gage height, 139.11 ft.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS

INSTRUMENTATION - Temperature sensor with a 15-minute logging interval.
REMARKS -
  • Water Year 2014: Water-temperature records excellent except for Oct. 1-31, Nov. 1-30, Feb. 15-28, Mar. 1-31. and Apr. 1-2, which are good.
  • Water Year 2015: Water-temperature records good.
  • Water Year 2016: Water-temperature records good except for Jan. 25 to Feb. 21, which are fair.
  • Water Year 2017: Water-temperature records good. No record Nov. 12-13, 17-19.
  • Water Year 2018: Water-temperature records good.
  • Water Year 2019: Water-temperature records excellent.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - WATER TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 20.2°C, June 26, 2015; minimum, 0.0°C, several days during winter.
