LOCATION - Lat 43°31'40", long 116°03'31" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 sec.11, T.2 N., R.3 E., Ada County, ID, Hydrologic Unit 17050114, Lucky Peak quad., at gate-control house at outlet of Lucky Peak Lake, 1.8 mi upstream from diversion dam for New York Canal, 7.5 mi downstream from mouth of Mores Creek, 9 mi southeast of Boise, and at mile 63.6.
DRAINAGE AREA - 2,686 mi². Mean elevation, 5,910 ft.

PERIOD OF RECORD - January 1895 to September 1916 (no winter records 1904-05, 1907), November 1950 to September 1954 (discharge measurements only), October 1954 to September 2019. Published as "near Highland" 1905-15 and as "below Moore Creek, near Arrowrock" 1916.
GAGE - None. Prior to October 1, 1987, remote gate-opening recorder and nonrecording gage on each of six slide gates, remote recorder and nonrecording gage on hollow-jet valve and remote water-stage recorder on Lucky Peak lake. Elevation of sills of six slide gates, 2,827.0 ft, levels by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Prior to Mar. 18, 1905, nonrecording gages at sites about 1 mi downstream at different datums. Mar. 18, 1905 to Mar. 20, 1915, nonrecording gages and Mar. 21, 1915 to Sept. 30, 1916, water-stage recorders at sites 5 to 7 mi upstream at different datums.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - UNREGULATED PERIOD (1895-1916): Maximum discharge observed prior to regulation, 35,500 ft³/s June 14, 1896; minimum observed, 432 ft³/s Nov. 14, 1915.
REGULATED PERIOD (1955 to current year): Maximum discharge since construction of Lucky Peak Dam in 1955, 13,200 ft³/s June 13-15, 1983; no flow on several days in 1954, 1955, 1957-59, 1961, 1969, 1974, 1978, 1980, 1982, 1984-86, 1989, when gates were closed.
