LOCATION - Lat 45°19'21", long 114°26'24" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NE 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.14, T.23 N., R.17 E., Lemhi County, ID, Hydrologic Unit 17060203, Bighorn Crags quad., Salmon National Forest, on right bank 0.6 mi upstream from Owl Creek, 2.3 mi downstream from Panther Creek, 10.7 miles southwest of Shoup, 51 miles by road from Salmon and at mile 207.8.
DRAINAGE AREA - 6,239 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1944 to September 1981, October 2002 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is arbitrary. Prior to Sept. 18, 1951, non recording gage at different sites, approximately 1.3 mi upstream at different datum.
REMARKS - Diversions above station for irrigation of about 149,000 acres, of which about 1,200 acres are by withdrawals from groundwater (1966 determination).
 
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 25,700 ft³/s June 18, 1974, gage height, 13.13 ft; minimum, known to be less than 600 ft³/s on Feb. 18, 2006, during period of ice effect.
