LOCATION - Lat 44°47'21", long 122°37'03" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NW 1/4 sec.18, T.9 S., R.2 E., Marion County, OR, Hydrologic Unit 17090005, on right bank, 300 ft downstream from highway bridge at Mehama, 0.5 mi downstream from Little North Santiam River and at mile 38.71.
DRAINAGE AREA - 654.35 mi².

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - July 1905 to March 1907, October 1910 to September 1914, September 1921 to current year. Monthly discharge only September 1921, published in WSP 1318. Prior to October 1913, published as North Fork of Santiam River at Mehama.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 602.49 ft above NGVD of 1929. Prior to June 15, 1933, nonrecording gage at site 100 ft upstream at same datum.
REMARKS - Flow regulated since 1953 by Detroit Lake (active capacity, 340,100 acre-ft) and Big Cliff Reservoir (active capacity for reregulating purposes, 2,930 acre-ft). No diversion upstream from station. Continuous water-quality records for periods September 1985 to October 1986 and April 2000 to December 2009 have been collected at this location.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 76,600 ft³/s Dec. 28, 1945, gage height, 15.37 ft, from rating curve extended above 36,000 ft³/s on basis of slope-area measurement of peak flow; maximum gage height, 17.5 ft Nov. 20, 1921, from graph based on gage readings and Jan. 6, 1923, from floodmark, at site then in use; minimum discharge, 254 ft³/s Aug. 3, 1970; minimum daily, 420 ft³/s Sept. 18, 1924.
