LOCATION - Lat 59°48'06", long 150°52'58" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SE 1/4 NE 1/4 sec.30, T.4 S., R.9 W., Kenai Peninsula Borough, AK, Hydrologic Unit 19020301, (Seldovia D-3 quad), on right bank, 0.7 mi upstream from mouth, 0.8 mi downstream from Middle Fork Bradley River, 4.3 mi downstream from Bradley Lake outlet and dam site, and 25 mi east of Homer.
DRAINAGE AREA - Indeterminate, regulated
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 1983 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 11.59 ft NAVD88
REMARKS - Flow occasionally affected by high tides. Intermittent regulation during construction at the Bradley River dam site began in November 1986. Flow has been regulated since the reservoir began filling April 26, 1991. See WRD-US-2009 for statistics prior to regulation and diversion of Bradley Dam. Upper Nuka River was diverted into Upper Bradley River on July 29, 1990. Flow from about 10 mi² of Middle Fork Bradley River upstream drainage has been diverted into the Bradley Lake reservoir since August 7, 1990. East Fork Battle Creek was diverted into the reservoir in October 1990. Water has been diverted out of the basin through the turbines since hydropower generation began June 28, 1991. INSTRUMENTATION - Electronic water temperature recorder at 15-minute recording interval. Water temperature probe installed on August 27, 2010. Intragravel temperature probe re-installed on October 13, 2010. Intragravel temperature probe location affects values recorded. The present location is similar to the probe location from Decmber 1, 1987 to November 19, 1989.
REMARKS - Water Temperature: Record represents water temperature at the sensor within 0.2°C. Intragravel: Record represents intragravel temperature at the sensor within 0.2°C. Prior to December 1987, intragravel water temperature for this station was published as: 594807150525800 Bradley R nr Tidewater Intragravel nr Homer AK.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - WATER TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 15.0°C, July 29-30, 1997; Minimum, 0.0°C on many days during the winter periods. INTRAGRAVEL TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 14.0°C, August 3, 1999; Minimum, 0.0°C on many days during most winter periods.
