LOCATION - Lat 21°33'23.0", long 157°53'56.0" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Honolulu County, HI, Hydrologic Unit 20060000, on left bank at Punaluu ditch diversion dam, 20 ft bankward from USGS stream-gaging station 16301050, 1.4 mi west of Kahana, and 1.8 mi southwest of Punaluu.
DRAINAGE AREA - 2.77 mi². from automated delineation using 10-meter National Elevation Dataset digital elevation model data dated September 2006 and Watershed Boundary Dataset dated May 2008, using UTM Zone 4 projection, NAD 83 horizontal datum.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR HI-11-1: Base discharge for 2009 and 2010 water years. WDR HI-12-1: Drainage Area. Discharge for May 8, 2020 was revised on Jan. 20, 2021.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1, 1953 to current year. From October 1953 to September 2008, unpublished records are in the files of the U.S. Geological Survey. These unpublished records are the combined discharge from Punaluu Ditch near Punaluu (station 16302000) and Punaluu Stream near Punaluu (station 16303000).
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and concrete weir. Masonry control and elevation of gage is 212 ft above mean sea level (from topographic map).
REMARKS - No diversions upstream from the gage.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 6,900 ft³/s, March 20, 1991, gage height, 10.02 ft, from rating curve extended above 170 ft³/s on basis of slope-area measurements at gage heights 7.77 ft and 9.60 ft.
